I’ve received so many inputs, queries and remarks on exercising during fasting month. In fact, I have also designed some programs for clients to do in their fasting month as well. While the results will vary across individuals, one must emphasize great care and knowledge when designing these programs.

My dear friend, Juliana Ali, or better known as missJeweLz will be running ‘To Japan, With Love’ at her maiden 100km Sundown Ultramarathon 2011 this coming 25th June 2011 in Singapore.  Read to find out how you or your organisation can help her out.

Last two years, I introduced cardioskip as part of my PT program, and since then few clients are hooked to it. It is a great aerobic exercise. Rope skipping can assist in developing agility, coordination, and balance, not to mention improvements in cardiovascular and muscular endurance.

Since KL Towerthon is just around the corner, I thought it would be good if I post something on towerthon training. The following Q&As and tips were written by Juliana. Have  a read.

Have you met people in the gym, who come religiously 5 times a week for 2 years, only to notice that they have become fatter than when they first started? Or people who ask you for advice, you tell them, but then weeks later you see that they have reverted back to their same old routine.

Do you struggle to get your kids to eat? What do kids always want to do? Have fun of course! Why not let the kids do the cooking and have fun at the same time with some fun kids recipes? Staying active often means going out and about. Kids learn from example and what better example for parents to set than to enjoy fun family fitness and a diet that promotes a healthy lifestyle that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

To those that have taken up my program, I’m sure you have gone thru the CardioHill or CardioStairs workout in your PT sessions. This is where I throw in all sorts of climbing and running routines; namely stair climbing, hill running, double steps, single steps etc. So, in conjunction with KL Towerthon (shucks….this may come a bit too early) on 7 May 2011, let me share with you the benefits, as well as the techniques to climb stairs the right way.

Right after high school, I engaged in many sports, endurance mostly. I would spend more than 6 hours racing non-stop on a given raceday. I was aware of over-using my body, putting my joints in great stress, but I was not taking any supplements to support the health of my joints. I was young, and I was wrong. Taking supplements is not only meant to support the present state of being, but it also a health investment for future.

Most people engage in fitness training to lose weight or achieve a certain level of fitness. Once they reach their target, they maintain it without thinking much to surpass that goal. Sorry to say that this type of thinking never works for me, definitely not in my programs.

Cross Training engages a variety of activities with compromise on advantages and shortcomings of each activity. Cross training has shown to improve overall sports performance and injury prevention.

I have been reading this topic a lot in many blogs and i thought i would like to address this issue as well. Many of the blogs i read say that fat doesn't make you fat, its consuming more calories that your body can use that makes you fat. This statement is true. There is no denying that.

It should have been one of my busiest weekend with my pending assignments. I was stoked that by the end of the week nothing much was left in my mind, and the only thing which I knew would work for me to ‘recover’ from the stress was going for a bicycle ride, trail running or both.

One of the best and simplest rule you can follow is “eat for what you are about to do in the next 3 hours”. Now I am sure all of you have read millions of things about weight loss in magazines, on the web, on Oprah. Well sometimes there is just so much information out there, its hard to remember and decide what to do.
